Everything you need to know before you set off

No experience is needed at all. On the morning of departure, we take as long as necessary to teach you how to load your donkey's pack and give you all the tips you need to get along well with it. Donkeys are docile and intelligent animals that adapt quickly to their hiker.
From the age of 3! Young children can ride on the donkey's back. We lend helmets free of charge. Our circuits are adapted to all family configurations.
Our circuits are adapted to your level. We offer stages of 8 to 25 km depending on your ability. We always discuss your hiking experience during booking in order to build a suitable itinerary.
From April to November, thanks to the Mediterranean climate of the Cévennes. Summer (July–August) is very hot in the middle of the day - we recommend setting off early in the morning. Spring (April–June) and autumn (September–October) are the most pleasant seasons.
The donkey carries your luggage - no need to bring the whole house! Maximum 2 bags of 50 to 60L. We recommend: hiking boots, waterproof clothing, sunscreen, a hat, swimwear (swimming is possible). Bring towels and a sleeping bag liner for the gîtes.
Our two gîtes (Frégère Basse and Pont de Burgen) are authentic Cévennes stone houses. Dormitory rooms sleeping 4 to 6 people, a convivial dining room, home-cooked meals. No private en-suite rooms - the spirit is one of sharing and conviviality.
On half board (62€/adult): dinner, overnight stay and breakfast included. On full board (72€/adult): packed lunch also included. All meals are entirely home-cooked using produce from the garden and local producers.
Yes, dogs are welcome in our gîtes under conditions, with a lead compulsory (please advise when booking). Please note: other gîtes d'étape on the circuit may not accept dogs - check in advance and plan your route accordingly.
